If you need to adjust the exposure or contrast

The exposure or contrast of a picture (its lightness and darkness), is determined when the picture is scanned.  It cannot be altered by the HP PicturePlace Editor software.

If you do not like the exposure, you may wish to rescan the picture.  When the HP PictureScan software scans, it determines the exposure based on the contents of the selection area.  Be sure that the selection border surrounds just the area of the page or picture that you really plan to use, so the exposure is as accurate as possible.
